Pink Shirt Day

Luke and Campbell from Habitat 17 organised Bayview's Pink Shirt Day. What is Pink Shirt Day?

Pink Shirt Day is about standing together to take action against bullying. In class, we explored "How does a good friend act?", "What is bullying?", and "What should a person do if they think he or she is being bullied?".

Here is example of how a kid dealt with bullying. He re-wrote the song "Hope".

He used his experience to re-write the song. He is an authentic writer. We are learning how to be an authentic writer. We will use our own words to write our ideas down. We will add rich vocabulary. We will check for punctuation and spelling.

Check out our Seesaw blog for the video clip from the Pink Day Shirt Assembly.

Highlights of the first week were swimming and Kiwisports. Habitat 6 has been taking the challenge of writing their own Alphabet book. Some are working on poems. Some are working on using alliterations and some are working on words that start with the letter.

Congratulations!

Last week, we got the 'Bayview Litter Award' for the most improved area.

Our tunnel challenge continues.

Habitat 6 keeps working on their tunnels. In Habitat 6 we are learning not to give up.

Just like how storms, cyclones, hurricanes or typhoons may hit a country, learning challenges will come along our way. We will find ourselves in a learning pit.

We may struggle to get out of the learning pit for a period of time but we will never give up. We will continue to learn and grow.

Here are some more photos of our tunnels.

Here is a video clip of our 'Human Tunnel Week 9 Challenge'. What challenges did each group face? How can each group overcome their challenges?
